The Kerala Livestock Development Board Ltd. (Board), a fully Government owned company, was established in 1976. The major responsibilities of the Board include managing cattle in cattle breeding farms, enhancing milk production, controlling quality of semen by using frozen semen technology, promoting fodder production and conducting training courses in animal husbandry and fodder production. India’s first Sire Evaluation Programme for crossbred bulls was started by the Board. The Board also runs R & D programmes for bettering its activities.

KERAFED is the Apex Co-operative Federation of coconut farmers in Kerala and is the largest producer of coconut oil in India. KERAFED's coconut oil complex at Karunagapally in Kollam district is one of the biggest such units in India, with a capacity of 200 Tons per day. "KERA" Brand of coconut oil is produced by kerafed from copra of the finest quality, directly procured from coconut growers in Kerala - the land of coconuts. The copra thus procured is processed using the most modern technology. In the selection and processing of copra, KERAFED employs strict quality control measures to ensure product superiority and purity. A unique two stage filtering process is employed by KERAFED to retain the original aroma and flavour of coconut oil for a long period.

Vegetable and Fruit Promotion Council Keralam (VFPCK) is an ISO 9001-2000 certified company registered under section 25 of Indian Companies Act 1956 and has been established to bring about overall development of fruit and vegetable sector in Kerala. Established in 2001 as the successor organization of Kerala Horticulture Development Programme (KHDP), VFPCK is managed by a result oriented multidisciplinary team of professionals. Needless to say, KHDP, funded by European Union, was one of the most successful agricultural development projects ever undertaken in the country. KHDP could effectively introduce several agricultural developmental policies and redress long-standing problems that plagued the agricultural sector. When the enviornment takes presidence over the profit, the installation of a feed mill in a developing country, is an unusual task. Kerala Government faced with this challenge, when Kerala Feeds Limited, commissioned a feed mill aimed at improving the lives of small farmers. devoloping the countryside and helping to combat the growing depopulation. As a consequence of this, Kerala Feeds Ltd., a Kerala Government Company, was set up in 1995, incorporated under the Companies Act. The cattle feed plant with 500 TPD capacity was commissioned in late 1998 and commercial production started in January 1999, with one shift only. The second and third shift operations were commenced in June 1999 and July 2000 respectively. The unit is located in Kallettumkara Village in Mukundapuram Taluk of Thrissur District beside the Palghat - Ernakulam Railway line and about 7 km from Chalakudy and 9 km from Irinjalakuda. The plant is situated in 27 acres of land and has sufficient scope for further expansion.
