Santimadom Agro Farm Kerala

Santhimadom Agro farm has come as a harbinger of relief to the agriculture sector when this sector is facing a crucial stage of recession. There are more than 100000 mother trees in Santhimadom including that of Pathimukham (Caesalpinia sappan) which is used as an ingredient for making dahashamani (herbal drinking water mix) in Kerala. From these mother trees we have reproduced high yielding varieties of fruit tree saplings, ornamental plants and kerala medicinal plants which can be used in medicines, fairness creams and for commercial purposes.

We produce different bio fertilizers viz. Rhizobium, Azospirillum, Azotobacter, Phosphobacteria, V.A.Mycorrhiza, Bio-potash and bio control agents like Trichoderma sp., Pseudomonas, fluorescence, Beauveria bassiana, Verticillium lecanii, Paecilomyces lilacinus, Metarhizium anisopliae, Nomuraea releyi and organic manures like Bio-organic manure, Super organic manure, Super meal, Super organic plus etc. under the trade name ‘ABTEC’. Our R&D wing is involved in developing many more products, which will soon hit the market. The sources of culture are International Crop Research Institute (ICRISAT), Regional Centre of Organic Farming (RCOF), Project Directorate of Bio control (PDBC), Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR), Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) and TamilNadu Agricultural University (TNAU).

3. Kerala Livestock

The Kerala Livestock Development Board Ltd. (Board), a fully Government owned company, was established in 1976. The major responsibilities of the Board include managing cattle in cattle breeding farms, enhancing milk production, controlling quality of semen by using frozen semen technology, promoting fodder production and conducting training courses in animal husbandry and fodder production. India’s first Sire Evaluation Programme for crossbred bulls was started by the Board. The Board also runs R & D programmes for bettering its activities.
