Sree Narayana Gurukulam College of Engineering was established in the year 2002 by Kunnathunadu S.N.D.P Union, head quartered at Perumbavoor with a view to accomplish the ideals of Sree Narayana Guru (1855-1928), the great sage and social reformer who is considered as the leader of IndianRenaissance movement.All India council For Technical Education accorded sanction for offering three B.Tech courses in COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERINGELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERINGELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERINGin the institution from the academic year 2002-2003 .The sanctioned intake for all the courses are 60 each and the institution is affiliated to MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY ,KOTTAYAM. After considering the pace of development and infrastructure creation within the first two years AICTE had sanctioned B.Tech course in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING and MBA PROGRAMME to this institution during 2004 itself. The sanctioned intake for both the new courses being 60 each.The sincere efforts of the GURUKULAM TRUST in creating state of the art infrastructure, dedicated highly qualified senior faculty, disciplined campus, opportunity for co-curricular activities, emphasis on personal development of each student has earned quick reputation for the institution. Asianet provides dedicated internet connectivity of 1mbps in the internet center and students with blue tooth can access internet from anywhere in the campus including women’s hostel.

Engineers, Doctors, Scientists, Architects and Technocrats, who are burdened with making of the new century, totally depend on computers and Information Technology. We, here, in India, stand a remarkable chance of utilizing the intelligence and capacity of our young engineers, scientists and computer programmers and System Analysts and contribute to the growth of information technology.India is one of the major countries working to develop the technology on information technology and software. As a result, many engineering colleges were started in the Government, co-operative and private sectors. Kerala is blessed with intelligent students who are willing to study IT and Computer Science. It is in this context, that the state Government has come forward and sanctioned 15 engineering colleges in the private unaided sector. The Mangalam College of Engineering is one amongst them.The Mangalam Educational Society, which is in the forefront in promoting education in the District of Kottayam, has already established fully residential High Schools and B.Ed. Training College. The Present opportunity given by the Government for starting Engineering colleges in the private unaided sector will be fully utilized by the Society. The Mangalam Engineering College has been visualized as a College imparting knowledge and training to its students for those who join the institute and work for their degree.Along with the Degree these students will be given training in the development of software for computers. A fresh graduate with Degree alone cannot face the stiff competition in the IT field.Here the better students will be imparted training in development of software. They will be asked to work for extra hours after their regular study hours. They will be provided with stipend also.The infrastructure is made in such a way that modern computers and Internet facility using Broad band technology and other ready-made software are available to the students. The College proposes to have professional tie-ups with agencies in the technopark in the state and similar agencies. A group known as Mission IT had preliminary talks with the management. This is an IT agency aided by the Government and have global connections. This agency has promised to train our students in the development of software.After 5 years the agency will bring about 60 foreign students to our center for teaching computers and development of software.With the above Broad band facility, all our students will be able to access all major libraries in the world and other Internet facilities with out any barrier what so ever in nature. Thus at the end of the B-Tech degree course the students will come out of Mangalam College of Engineering with one university Degree in Engineering and a Software package that he/his group has developed. These types of students are in demand in the industry and research centers. Thus the college will rise to the expectations of the Society in general and expectations of students and their parents in particular
