Association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI), Kerala Branch
For acquiring oneself with the genesis of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI), Kerala Branch, one needs to go back to the days when two separate organizations functioned within the physical borders of the state. They were called the AOI Kerala Branch and , the Malabar Branch of the AOI. In view of the widespread feeling prevalent within the community of ENT Surgeons of Kerala that all practitioners of the speciality should be brought under a unified banner, embracing the whole of Kerala, it was decided to form a unified association. At the inaugural conference of the state-wide association held in 2002 at Calicut under the presidentship of Prof. K. Ashok Kumar, the two bodies merged together to form The Association of Otolaryngologists of India, Kerala State Branch. It goes without saying that a unified body encompassing the whole geographical extent of the Kerala State would function more cohesively and competently. It would also help to generate state-wide inter-action between ENT Surgeons, thereby promoting purposeful growth and providing dedication and direction to this professional guild. Now that the Association of Otolaryngologists of India, Kerala State Branch has become a reality and manage to carve a special niche for itself in the larger scheme of things, the need for a website for the body was felt. The website would not only list the details of all practitioners of the speciality within the state but also provide upto date information on the latest developments within our special sphere of interest. Further, the website would be another useful link in the information domain of the all India body. We are confident that all ENT Surgeons would not only visit the website frequently but also enroll as members of AOI, Kerala Branch.
